Raku pottery workshop
SATURDAY AUGUST 30th 9am-5pm
Join us and our friends from, Alsi Ceramics for a fun day of pottery, hanging out with pals, and trash can fires! No experience needed!
All Ages (kids under 8 will need assistance pulling pots out of the kiln).
What is Raku? Raku pottery is a unique Japanese firing technique known for its distinctive aesthetic and unpredictable results. It involves rapidly heating pottery to low-fire glaze temperatures, then removing it from the kiln while still red-hot and placing it in a container with combustible materials like sawdust or newspaper. This process creates unique colors, patterns, and textures due to the thermal shock and post-firing reduction!
Like we said, trash can fires!
