Raku pottery workshop

THURSDAY OCTOBER 30th 4-9pm

Join us and our friends from, Alsi Ceramics for a magical night of glowing pottery, fun pals, and hanging out by a fire the night before Halloween.

Pretty sure this is the ultimate in, “vibe setting” for the spookiest time of year!

Ages 16 + ONLY - No experience needed!

While we loved having kids at our first Raku Workshop, adding darkness and cold into the mix with the whole “open flames” thing, we’re gonna have them sit this one out. :)

What is Raku? Raku pottery is a unique Japanese firing technique known for its distinctive aesthetic and unpredictable results. It involves rapidly heating pottery to low-fire glaze temperatures, then removing it from the kiln while still red-hot and placing it in a container with combustible materials like sawdust or newspaper. This process creates unique colors, patterns, and textures due to the thermal shock and post-firing reduction!

Like we said, trash can fires!

ANDDD this time, at night - the COOLEST glowing light show!

Who : Open to all creatures and creators of the night! We will have a selection of pre-made pumpkins and cauldrons for $20per pot. Made by the amazing FA Friends : Isabella, Quynh, and Gabi!

What : An hour long Raku workshop- you will choose a pumpkin or cauldron, apply a glaze, and then toss a bunch of combustibles at it in a fire. Then dunk it in water and hear the best sizzle ever. You can take your pot home with you!

THESE POTS ARE NOT FOOD SAFE AND CANNOT HOLD WATER,

THEY ARE DECORATIVE ONLY.

Where : East side parking lot of The Stanley Marketplace in front of Friend Assembly Studio - you'll see us cause all the pots!

Why: Cause lighting things on fire is fun. And lighting things on fire the night before Halloween feels like the exact right thing to do.

When : Oct 30th 4-9pm, there will be multiple sessions that will have online sign ups. No walk up spots available this time!

$40 class fee (due when you sign up online)

$20 per pot (20 pumpkins and 20 cauldrons available)
