Intermediate wheel

Instructor: Isabella Perez

In this Intermediate class, you will explore throwing sets, throwing off the hump, throwing larger vessels, advanced surface design and most of all throwing with intention.

In order to make sure you are in the right place with this class, there are prerequisites.

Prerequisites :

  • Center clay consistently and without assistance

  • Throwing multiples - A set of 4 cups or bowls

  • Consistently throw with at least 2 pounds of clay

  • Basic knowledge of handbuilding techniques - slip/score, handles, spouts, etc.

If you feel like you can do all of these things consistently, you are probably in the right place. BUT! We also want to make sure that you are. Please shoot us an email to schedule you a 2 hour open studio time slot. During that time, you can demonstrate all of your pre-req’s to the studio monitor/instructor that is in. This can be on your own time and not in a class setting. We get this is a little extra, so this studio time is free and you get to keep whatever you make and fire it for free too!

* If you feel like you are between Beginner and Intermediate, you probably just need practice. Independent Open Studio is the best place to take all the skills you learn from class and refine them to a point where you can throw consistantly and with intention.

We offer 10 Hours of Pre-Paid Open Studio which is a great way to get a lot of practice and hold yourself accountable for getting in the studio

New Perk! Students enrolled in any 5/6 week session, will receive 3 free hours of Open Studio time! This time can be used to practice skills from class independently or for glazing, cause it allllllwaaays takes longer than you think it’s going to :)
